- Factors to consider before buying a new computer
- With a lot of custom built computer companies emerging, one can?t help but wonder if whether they offer quality or the exact opposite of that. Threes a lot that goes into selecting the right builder for your system, be it home/office computer or a gaming pc. You still need to know exactly what you are buying.
Factors to consider before buying a custom built system
Having said that threes a lot of companies offering this service, you need to still compare the one trusted and recommended with other companies. Compare in terms of price, quality, performance and after sale services. Making the right purchasing decision is not often as simple as that? Basic specs of a computer are as follows:
Video Card Processor Memory ? Ram (Random Access Memory)
1: Video Card(s) (GPU)
When it comes to gaming your video card is just as important as your processor. It has one of the most important tasks: to display images on your monitor. What makes a great video card? Find out below:
a. Next Gen. Technology ? The newest technology will not only have more graphical horse power, but will have newer capabilities that you will be able to take advantage of down the road. For example, NVIDIA is the only brand that features full PhysX processing on the core. This allows your processor to focus on more important tasks.
b. Good FPS ? Frame per second (FPS), the more frames the smoother your game play will be. As you crank up the visuals in today?s hottest games, your FPS will suffer. A powerful video card will offset this issue.
When you are looking to purchase a video card make sure to consider if a multiple video card setup is for you.
c. Multiple Video Cards ? Two video cards working together can provide up to twice the performance resulting in even more smoother and detailed game play experience.
2: Processor (CPU)
The processor is the brain of your gaming computer and one of the most critical components that determines how well your computer performs. Here is what to look for when purchasing a new processor:
a. Multiple processor cores allow you to multi-task without sacrificing performance:
i. Example 1: During game play one core is processing AI (artificial intelligence) while the other is processing game data.
ii. Example 2: Scan for viruses and surf the web at the same time without a drop in speed.
3: Memory (RAM)
RAM, known as ?Random Access Memory? is also a crucial aspect of any pc. The memory acts as a buffer between all core components of your system. Faster memory will increase the performance of your entire computer. If you don?t make the right selection, it will create a bottleneck for your entire system. Consider the following when purchasing your memory:
a. Speed- Remember the faster the memory the better your software will perform, this is especially true of your games. Expect to see more silky smooth game play with faster RAM.
b. Size ? When you get more RAM you get to run more applications without experiencing slowdowns in performance.
- Overclocking Gaming Laptops: Getting Higher Performances for Less Money
- If you?re not a computer gaming enthusiast or have a nickname that rhymes with Greek? overclocking may be a term that?s foreign to you. Overclocking is usually associated with gaming computers and it?s a way of increasing your computer?s performance without having to pay the higher price tag.
Overclocking basically refers to changing the frequency of an electronic component; the name comes from the ?clock? which acts as a timer which sends out an electronic wave that determines the speed at which the component processes information. In regards to computers or laptops, this usually means the CPU and the FSB.
Now if all that is also sounding a bit foreign to you, just remember overclocking simply means changing the default speed in a CPU to a more faster level to achieve better performances from your computer. Gamers use it to rev up their gaming machines to get the ultimate performance level possible. Like you would!
The theory goes something like this: in order for major CPU makers like Intel to turn out new CPUs every few months or so, they simply design a single processor and then release it with different configurations, usually at the most stable frequencies so your computer will run smoothly. Changing the clock frequencies is one way they can have a new processor very quickly. Since the major market share is for mid to low range CPUs that?s where most of them are configured/sold at this level. However, many of these CPUs can operate at a much greater frequency with higher performances just a few adjustments away.
Gamers and computer enthusiasts have figured this out and by changing this frequency they can get a high-end CPU without having to pay the higher price. Overclocking is simply a way of getting more bang from your computer spending bucks.
However, there?s a major WARNING that should come with any discussion of Overclocking ? along with a major DISCLAIMER. If you don?t know exactly what you?re doing, you can seriously damage your computer. That?s why overclocking will usually VOID your warrenty with your computer maker or seller. Proceed with caution and at your own risk if you attempt to overclock your laptop or computer. There are serious risks involved.
Nor is overclocking a simple procedure, it can be very complicated and does require some knowledge of how computer systems work and operate. What really complicates the whole process is the variations of the ?electrical and physical characteristics? of different computer systems, plus many factors are involved such as CPU multipliers, thermal loads, cooling methods, bus dividers, voltages and so on.
Keep in mind, with overclocking you?re talking about changing the frequency of the FSB (Front Side Bus) which literally dictates how fast all your computer components will run. By changing the FSB speed you can change the speed of your CPU and RAM. End result: faster laptop or computer.
However, as mentioned before there are major risks involved; change the frequency of the FSB too high and you can end up with hard drive failure. There is also the more serious issue of overheating your laptop or computer which could result in permanent damage. In other words, you could ?fry? your machine.
That?s why most experts suggest you not change the FSB speed by more than 20-30 MHz. Also remember, not all CPUs (due to manufacturing processes) can be overclocked. And also as a general rule of thumb, it is usually not wise to overclock a laptop that?s already ?hot to the touch?.
Likewise, some CPUs are much more suited for overclocking because they run at cooler levels and use little power ? these include the Pentium M and AMD Turion lines. If you want to learn more about overclocking and exactly how it?s done ? you can check out this excellent detailed article on overclocking from LaptopLogic:
This article will explain the steps you need to take to ?overclock? your computer system or laptop. Again, even this information comes with a solid warning about the dangers of overclocking your computer system. Proceed with the right care and you can improve your gaming laptop?s performance. Proceed the wrong way or become too power hunger and having a ?fry-up? will take on a whole new meaning!

Where to look? Where to start the search?
Every gamer can tell you the heart of any gaming laptop
is the graphics card. You must get the most powerful
graphics or GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) if you want
your gaming system to perform to the max.
Now everything is coming up dual!
If one card is good, two must be better! You can now get
gaming systems with twin or dual graphics with over a Gig
of memory. You must also have a way to handle all this
power so look for PCI-Express with SLI (Scalable Link
Don?t skimp your pennies here, try to get the best Graphics
possible, a lot of gamers go for the high end GPUs such
as ATI Mobility Radeon or NVIDIA GeForce Go series. Usually
the higher the number the better performance it will deliver.
Know Your RAM
RAM is very important in a gaming laptop mainly because,
as with any computer, RAM will largely determine how fast
it will perform. Same as with your graphics card, go for
the highest RAM possible. Know the difference between
ordinary RAM and Video RAM. The latter is very important
for running and getting full enjoyment out of your extreme
Helping to speed everything up, high end gaming laptops
now come with dual core processors, most gamers go for
Intel or AMD processors. Go with a SATA (Serial Advanced

much of a consideration in the first place. For those lucky
few where money is no object (These creatures do roam the
earth I am told!), searching out the best laptop money can
buy must be a pleasant task.
Your hunt would no doubt begin with some of the top gaming
brands such as Alienware (now owned by Dell), Voodoo (now a
part of HP) and Rock Direct, a UK Laptop Company.
Let?s face it, these high end gaming laptop manufacturers
are mainly selling style and looks at a premium price. Many
people criticize this as style over substance, most of these
companies are using the same gaming components shipped in
from Taiwan and assembling them into neat little gaming
But we are talking about luxury items here, if truth be
told how many people would buy a Ferrari if it looked like
a Model T? If you?re looking for the ultimate gaming machine,

Centrino Pro platform. Other vendors closer to home,
are featuring this new platform such as HP?s Pavilion
- Common issues in Windows Vista
- If you recently installed Windows Vista on your PC and feel that you have committed a mistake, this piece of information can help you to a significant extent. In this article, we will be reading about common issues in Windows Vista and how to tackle them.
Windows Vista, which was released worldwide by Microsoft on 30th January 2007, was presented before the world as an upgrade to the still-popular Windows XP. In the initial stages, this operating system was received wholeheartedly from all quarters but since it was in the Beta version and PC users were so accustomed to XP, complaints start pouring in. Vista was made free from some of the features in the XP version. Network related functionality, NetMeeting, MSN Explorer, Windows explorer features, and ?Luna? visual theme were some of the missing features.
With passing times, Windows Vista started gaining popularity but a majority of the ?satisfied? PC user population was happy only because their PCs boasted of a high memory, which is one of the biggest reasons why most users still prefer XP over Vista. It is worth noting here that most of the applications, games, and programs on Vista powered computers hold well only if the PC is high on memory. If not, it is all about the blame and defense games.
Anyways, we are here to discuss easy solutions for common issues in Windows Vista and we should not lose the focus.
Some experts are of the view that most PCs with Vista do not work good because of system problems and not because of Vista. One of the biggest problems faced was corrupt or overflowing Windows registry (unwanted and redundant) and PC users had no effective registry cleaners to sort this issue on their own. Secondly, most Vista users had enabled ?Clear Page file at Shutdown?, which means that the system will take more time than normal to shut down. Again, a self-created failure! Some users installed wrong drivers or applications that led to unresponsive PC, slow PC and Internet speed, problems while booting, etc.
It is evident from the above statements that most Vista issues are actually created by users themselves and not by this operating system. However, no operating system is perfect and Vista is no exception. Let us find out how to get rid of Vista errors without compromising on solutions.
The best advice for PC and Laptop users, in case of an issue with Vista operating system, is to seek professional online PC support. This may be in the form of remote technical support provided by a company having expertise in PC support service or computer troubleshooting service.
By hiring these specialized services, you can even get your PC repaired without a PC technician visiting your home or office. This advanced technology, remote technical support, can be accessed for an affordable fee at any point of time and from any place in this world. The best part is that you can even ask for customized computer support service or computer troubleshooting service for no or small additional payment.
- PC running Slow ? Stop window Startup Programs Slowing your computer down
- Almost all software programs you install using the default installation usually decide that they should start-up every time Windows starts. If not kept in check, you can end up with a situation where your computer will slow to a snail?s pace when running any program and you need to take steps to prevent your PC running slow.
Any program that installs itself in your Windows startup process will use a portion of your computer?s system memory and resources, leaving a smaller slice of memory available for other applications once they are running.
On one customers computer, we found 36 programs that were loading on Windows startup, and our overall windows resources were at 48%. A good system and registry scanner and Optimizer will stop this and restore system resources to stop your PC running slow.
How Can I Identify Which Programs Are Running In My Windows Startup?
You can use the ?System Configuration Utility? (MSCONFIG) to locate and identify windows startup programs. Just go to the windows start menu, then run and type msconfig. Once displayed, click on the Startup tab and unticl the programs you want to stop running. Otherwise let a system scanner do it for you.
How Do I Prevent Programs From Running At Windows Startup?
There are a number of ways that programs can be disabled from running at startup. They all involve manually checking each program you don?t want to run at startup:
1. The best way to proceed is to check and see if a program gives you an option to disable by right clicking on the currently running program in your system tray?many programs allow you to disable them this way.
2. Check the Windows StartUp folder:
Click on Start -> Programs -> StartUp or Start -> All Programs -> StartUp you will see programs that load on windows startup listed here. You can remove them in a couple of ways:
Remove the shortcut from the Startup directory If for some reason a program doesn?t operate as needed you can always move the program shortcut back again. The easiest way is to use a system and registry scanner for a slow PC fix and to do it automatically. Click here to scan your computer now and and stop your pc running slow.
- About Gaming PCs
- With the global low-economy slowly influencing the market results of several major IT companies, fears that the Custom gaming PC is reaching the end of life are catching on. Michael, the creator of one of the world?s most successful custom PCs, says, in a recent post on his blog, that the Custom gaming PC as we know it is doomed.? One of the main reasons for his claim is the fact that the global economic downturn is slowly changing the face of the market, as various Custom hardware component makers are expected to face a series of issues in the near future.
Michael speaks of a niche market, specifically targeted towards those enthusiast users who, prior to the current economic phase, would have gone all out on a system that would provide them with a few more frames in the most performance demanding Custom games. According to him, Custom PC systems built with up to four GPUs, a 2-kilowatt power supply, 16 gigabytes of memory and a stack of hard disk drives aren?t likely to raise the interest of any Custom PC user in the near future.
Michael writes: ?I am not saying Custom PC gaming is doomed, because it?s not?far from it?but the PC with four GPUs, a 2-kilowatt power supply, 16 gigabytes of memory, and a stack of hard drives is all but distant memory, at least for the Custom PC gamer.
The computer and the Custom PC gaming industries are expected to undergo a series of changes, in light of the current economic reality. Custom Computer users will likely be heading towards products that are more price-competitive, delivering a decent price/value ratio, which is why system makers are expected to change their policy and deliver less expensive products. But that can only happen if hardware makers also lower the prices of their products.
- 5 Simple Steps to Make Your Computer Run Faster
- WOW! That?s the typical response we receive at Nerds On Site when our customers computers boot up in half the time they did just 10 minutes before. Chances are quite good you too can have this ?WOW!? experience, assuming your Windows computer is spyware, adware, and virus-free. Here are 5 simple steps you can easily do yourself, or have your favorite IT person take care of for you ? we hope they are a Nerd On Site, of course!
Ever since Windows 95, Microsoft has made it fairly easy to manage all the programs that automatically start up with your computer. If you are not sure which ones you do or do not need, it?s safe to uncheck most or all of them and restart computer. Then selectively re-enable one at a time (and restart) to enable what you really need. Often there are programs in your PC for multi-function printers and other devices you may have had connected. Often, a majority of these programs are completely unnecessary, and take forever to boot up, wasting much of your precious time. To use this utility simply click Start, choose Run and type ?msconfig? (without quotes) and select OK.
2. Free Up Disk Space
When it comes to our computers, most of us are guilty of being pack rats. We tend to horde files containing information we may never view again without realizing how much space these files actually take up. Once you have reached 85% of your hard drives capacity, the computer will take a turn for the worst in terms of performance. If you are past that 85% usage now, here are a few tips to get you below that percentage:
? Copy files to your USB drive first before deleting them off your PC. This always a safer bet to avoid accidentally deleting an important file.
? Replace your hard drive with a larger one. This is the easiest route if you want to avoid moving files around to external drives.
It used to be that defragmenting the drive increased the performance, but nowadays the speed after defragmenting is hardly recognizable.
Modern operating systems and file systems are much better at managing fragmentation.
Hard Drive manufacturers make it very easy to replace your hard drive by including software that allows you to completely clone your old hard drive to your new one. If you feel adventurous, you may be able to do this yourself, but certainly any IT professional can handle a task such as this very safely. The added benefit is that you now have an extra hard drive that can be used for backup purposes.
3. Keep a Clean Desktop
It?s important to keep your desktop organized and free of clutter. If you have several files/icons covering the desktop of your computer you should create a file folder and store them away, burn them on a disk or move them to an external drive (then you can delete the original copies off your PC) as mentioned.
You will be amazed at how fast your computer starts up once you have no desktop clutter. The icons on the desktop actually take time to be retrieved and displayed, and this has to happen before your PC will allow any program to run.
4. Upgrade RAM, and RAM Memory Chips
If you are still chugging away at 512MB or 1GB of RAM, adding more RAM is cheaper than ever and can dramatically increase the startup time of your computer, and the speed at which all of your programs operate. In our experience, ?WOW!? Reactions always tend to follow a RAM upgrade.
You can typically obtain RAM upgrades direct from the PC?s manufacturer, although purchasing this way can be pricey. If you are not confident in installing RAM yourself, we recommend hiring an IT person. If you do attempt to install the RAM yourself, make sure that whatever memory you purchase is guaranteed to be compatible with your computer and that you are able to return it if it does not work. Some considerations to make when adding RAM:
? Will you be able to add it to the existing memory or will it be replacing the existing chip(s)?
? Does it require pairs of chips to be installed?
? What is the maximum amount of RAM that can be installed on your computer?
? Are you running a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system? 3-4GB are the maximum that 32-bit operating systems will recognize and/or be able to use.
In extreme cases where some specialists operate intensive database programs, such as simulations in health care research, maximizing on RAM and utilizing a 64-bit version of your operating system may allow you to run your databases in RAM instead of the hard drive.
If you spend a lot of time in front of your computer waiting, it may be worth consulting an expert to discuss how extra RAM can increase productivity dramatically for you.
5. A Clean Install of Microsoft Windows
Provided there are no technical problems with the computer, a clean install of Microsoft Windows guarantees that the PC will run as fast as it did when it was new. The essential process for a clean install of windows is as follows:
? Make a complete backup of the entire computer.
? Ensure the backup is working and accessible.
? Re-install Microsoft Windows from scratch.
? Restore your programs and data.
- Troubleshooting common Windows issues
- One of the biggest reasons why most of us notice Windows errors is ignorant about hardware and software. It is worthwhile to note here that Microsoft always maintain a compatibility list in context of hardware and only the list constituents are guaranteed to be 100 percent compatible. But most PC users hardly give attention to the list and often neglect minor hardware issues or system warnings but this can be devastating for the computer as these small problems can get manifest themselves to bigger problems.
If that was not all, most of us opt for free or low-priced software that are not genuine (most of the times), which means that PC functioning can take a backseat due to malicious applications and programs accompanying the software. This can affect speed and functioning of the PC besides posing as a serious security threat. It is also recommended that you clear temporary Internet and other files (Recycle bin, Temp, and Prefetch) and clean the registry at regular intervals. You should also defragment all the hard drives of your PC on a monthly basis. In addition to that, regularly update the anti-virus and registry software and allow regular scans so that PC security and operations are two things that you can always be assured of.
Now let us talk about one more problem faced by PC users, worldwide, is slow shutdown. If you have noticed this problem in your PC, it is time for you to click START-RUN-GPEDIT.MSC to load the group policy editor. Now search for Computer Configuration-Windows Settings-Security Settings-Local Policies-Security Options to locate the Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory Pagefile option on the right side. Do make sure that it is marked as disabled. If not, disable it by double clicking on the setting icon and selecting the Disable option.
If you still are facing some problems while troubleshooting common Windows issues, it is highly recommended that you opt for PC support service from a reliable computer troubleshooting service provider. You can opt for this service on the Internet as well in the form of online PC support or remote technical support.
The best part about these computer support services is that you can even ask for customized computer troubleshooting service from the providers. If you are not aware of the nearest computer support provider, you can go to Google and enter words such as computer support, remote technical support, PC support service, or computer troubleshooting service to get redirected to sites of providers specializing in troubleshooting common Windows issues.
By following these small yet highly effective tips and precautions, you can indeed create and maintain high standards of PC functioning and security.
- The Excellent Computer Desks and Office Desk for Your Workspace
- Computer desks are specifically designed to hold the computer such as the monitor, the keyboard, the mouse, the printer, scanner and many other accessories. The monitor is located on the desk while the keyboard, mouse and others are placed in shelves or in other compartments. Computer desks are designed to have an open back so that the cables and wires will be connected to the electrical outlets. Most computer desks are made of wood. It can also be made out of different materials such as metal, fiberglass and others. But the wooden computer desks are more expensive. The sizes of these computer desks may vary but there is a standard size that is already available in the market. But if you want a larger desk then you can choose to purchase customized computer desks to suit your interior or room.
Some people would let a carpenter build computer desks but this is not the best option. Why? Basically, it is crucial because apart from the functions of the desk, it should also give ergonomic comfort. What does it mean? The monitor should not be too high or too low from the person using it. The keyboard and the mouse should also be located in the right place because this might bring discomfort after long hours of working in front of the computer.
Aside from that, the computer desks should come with an ergonomic chair to make sure that you will not feel body pain while doing computer work. Do the computer desks have small wheels at the bottom? This is also very important because sometimes, the computer is transferred from one location to another. If it has these small wheels, then moving it would not be a problem at all. So what are the different types of computer desks and office desks?
If you have a large work room, you should have at least a comfortable office desk and if you have a computer, you should think about getting a computer desk. You might think that it is expensive but actually, it is not. There are many inexpensive office desks as well as economic computer desks for your needs. You might think about putting the computer in a table and put the cpu next to it but it would look unpleasant and there might be discomforts. The mouse and the keyboard should be a little bit lower than the monitor.
Computer desks can have compartments where you could keep important documents or files. Office desks can also have cabinets or shelves so that your things can be organized in a jiffy. Selecting an office desk is not at all difficult, if you know where to look. One of the important pieces of furniture in your house could be the office desk. With it, you can work freely without thinking about where you put the necessary files you need.
- The Lowdown On Gaming Computers
The Lowdown On Gaming Computers
matter how much practice the dedicated puts into his or her role chosen
obsession in life, they will always be limited by the power at the fingers. As
such, specialized gaming computers are as necessary as the latest techniques,
plays and quick fire decision making skills.
base level, it is essential that gaming computers have a top of the range
graphics card, the fastest CPUs and, wherever possible, liquid cooling
technology. Built to process vast amounts of information for role playing to
first person shoot ?em ups and everything in between, there is more to them
than this however.
of the task being asked of them, gaming computers need to have a vast amount of
RAM, which will only enhance the whole experience. They will need to be
bristling with connectivity options too; to satisfy all the peripherals that
need to be added. USB and FireWire ports need to be maximized, whilst there
also needs to be easily accessed and well numbered head and microphone ports.
Gaming computers are individual pieces of kit
though. They are not typical desktops of course, so often the way they look is
almost as important as how they perform. From transparent panels to neon lights
and many companies offering full customization, there really is no limit. A bit
of thought should go into deciding what is needed and what isn?t, here?s a
quick rundown on what should be considered.
Sound is important here, so getting the best quality is important. A sound card
should be able to produce a minimum of 5.1 channels of sound, though for the
serious gamer 7.1 should be sought. Graphics are the controlling aspect of all
games of course, so a minimum of 256 Meg video Ram is required.
The larger the better regards memory is what?s important here. The quicker
information can be accessed by the game, the better. A minimum of 1 Gig is
needed on the RAM here. Sufficient hard drive space is needed too, particularly
if the computer is to be used to store multiple games at the same time.
Having the quickest processor possible will help the video card to produce the
best results; pulling as many as 51 billion polygons per second. Depending on
the games being played, this will affect performance a great deal; certainly
regards the growing trend of online multi player role playing genre.
Devices: Not as important as the bones of the unit of course, but to many how
the machine looks is important. Getting peripherals that all hang together
makes the operation look slick of course, and can improve gaming. However,
feeling comfortable with your devices is the critical aspect here.
In simple terms, gaming computers should be
as expensive as possible. However, it is important to set a budget and, there
are always discounts and offers going on. Shopping online is good of course,
but better deals and a more bespoke service may be achieved by going in store
and working with the team there.
- How to Build a Gaming Computer
- Want to build a gaming PC, but you?re not sure where to start? Well, there are a few things to consider when you?re building your first gaming rig. Budget and the right assembly of parts are obviously two deciding factors, but it?s also a good idea to do your research ahead of time.
Building the best custom gaming PC requires thorough knowledge of each component: motherboard, video card, DVD/CD drive, sound card, etc. It?s vital to make sure they?ll all work with each other ? and on top of that, that they?ll fit in your chosen PC case to begin with.
Gaming PCs come in all different shapes and sizes depending on your needs. Hardcore gamers playing high-requirement games like Crysis will need a very good video card, while those who play lower end games can get away with a less expensive one.
A good processor is another important component of a gaming PC. Gamers who tend to run multiple applications at once or do any video editing will most likely want a quad core processor. Dual cores are still very good and solid, but not as great at multitasking as quad core CPUs.
Where budget is concerned, 0-600 is the minimum you?ll need to look at spending, more than likely, for all your parts. Anything less than that and you won?t be able to get decent performance out of most newer games.
You have a bit more flexability with OS and peripherals. However, not all operating systems will run certain games, so it?s important to make sure you choose an OS that?s both user-friendly and will run the games you want. Windows 7, XP, and Vista are all decent choices for operating systems, though Windows 7, being the newest, will probably be the most expensive depending on which make of it you choose.
When you?ve selected all your PC components, be sure to take precautions to avoid electric shock when assembling your parts. Discharging all static by first touching a grounded object (something rubber and non-conducting) is a good idea before you stick your hands or any parts into the PC case.
- Cheap Gaming Computers ? Do They Exist
- As the
technology is getting better and better day by day people are moving towards
buying some new products along with some new and latest technologies which are
within their reach.
children use to play games on desktops but now as I stated that technology is
getting better and better, children are now having option of getting a good
heavy specifications gaming laptop on which they can play all those heavy games
such as WOW,SIMS2, Flight Simulator.
are now getting very focused on manufacturing more and more gaming laptops as
they know that children will buy them and gaming laptops are always expensive
they are not cheap, but after my thorough search I came on a point where you
can get some good gaming laptops sometimes you might end up getting a very good
gaming PC which will help you in saving
money and the option for that is a Refurbished conditioned system which comes
with good specifications.
specifications are always hard to find, you will get it in brand new laptops
and desktops but in refurbished condition people think they are junk of piece
and you won?t get anything in it, I will say that it?s not the fact that in
refurbished conditioned laptops and desktops you do not get anything, you get
good amount of RAM, Processor and Hard drive, the only thing you have to keep
in mind is that from where ever you are purchasing a refurbished laptop you

- Cache, Build Gaming Computer
- Are you planning to build a fast gaming computer? If the answer is yes, you should have some knowledge about the importance of a cache. Building a gaming computer means you are going to spend a hefty amount of money and some knowledge about the core components of the computer will help you to find the best components in your budget. Now ad days, the computers have both L1 and L2 cache even there are also computers with L3 cache. You might be wondering what this cache is and why it is so important to build up a good gaming computer . This article has been designed to give you some information about this. If you come across any problem to build up a gaming computer you can consult a remote PC repair company for tech support.
Cache memory is a very significant part of a computer system that is utilized to store instructions that are constantly utilized by the Central Processing Unit of the computer. This is an extremely fast memory and it accelerates the CPU instruction retrieval process resulting a fast and more efficient computing or gaming experience.
If there is less cache memory the CPU needs to retrieve instruction from the Random Access Memory. But the speed of the RAM is not as fast as the CPU. So, even after having a good processor you will not be able to utilize its full efficiency. There is cache in the motherboard which is known as L2 cache but faster cache is built into the CPU which is known as L1 cache. It matches the speed of the CPU.
Including big cache into the system is not advisable as it is very expensive. For faster CPUs bigger cache is required. Typically, there is 64kb of cache in a system. If you consider the high end CPU like Intel Corei7 has 8MB cache. For this reason, these processors are so expensive.
Intel Atom CPUs are the budget version of Intel chip. Operating speed of these processors is same as a Pentium4 chip, but the price is very much affordable. The size of the cache in the chip is the main reason for this. Typically, Atom CPUs have just only 512kb while an Intel Pentium 4 CPU has 2MB cache. So, it is obvious that performance of Intel Atom processor will be slower than Intel Pentium 4 or iCore processors.
So, from the discussion it is quite clear that if you are building a gaming computer g cache under consideration. A processor with higher cache will be the best choice for better performance. You can consider Inter Core i7, Inter Core i5 or Inter Core i3 in these regard. All of them are excellent to enjoy gaming.
- How to Make A Gaming PC
- With the advent of new game releases, demand for gaming pc has gone high. But running the latest games on your pc requires some serious hardware backup for enjoying the game at its best. You might be wondering what could be the best configuration for a Gaming PC. Here is a guide to build a decent gaming pc on a limited budget.
With the price of computer hardware becoming low from 2010, it is possible to build a decent gaming pc at a really low price point. So here?s what we have for those on a tight budget.
For a gaming PC , the Athlon II X3 440 CPU could be a very good choice. This is a triple-core CPU and the performance is truly superb. In fact, it is hard to get such an outstanding performance at such a low price point. A Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 motherboard is the perfect choice with this CPU. - Properly Buying a Video Card
- When it comes to getting the most value for your money in video cards, you should always shop around. While the two major chipset providers are nVidia and ATI, these graphics manufacturers have a number of resellers who use their chip sets in their own cards. Some of the more popular manufacturers which come to mind are EVGA, Sapphire, and Gigabyte. Before you purcase a video card, you should know what you?re getting. While the chipsets for the manufacturer?s do not differ, their features do. EVGA is famous for the heat sinks and fans they supply with their cards in order to keep the internal temperature of your machine down. Gigabyte usually sells package deals, which if you buy one of their video cards, you?ll receive some type of game, or program with it. Depending on your needs, you?ll need to decide which graphics manufacturer to go with.
EVGA deals exclusively with nVidia cards and offers a very unique program and a lifetime warranty on most of their products. Their unique program offers you the ability to trade in any card you?ve purchased within the last year for a newer one, and only pay the difference between the two cards. This lets you stay on top of the graphics world, so you?re never running a card which is out dated. Their lifetime warranty is provided on many of their high-end products and even covers electrical shock damage on damaged video cards. You?ll receive the same card or you?ll receive a check for the amount your card was worth, depending on EVGA?s stock. Hence, they are a great dealer to purchase video cards from. You can find many of their products available at Newegg.
Sapphire Tech is the most popular provider for ATI branded video cards. They offer a wide range of cards with the ATI chip sets and their customer service is the best in the business. While their products do not come with a lifetime warranty, they do come with a full featured 2 year warranty which is pretty generous, considering the life of most video cards in gaming computer gaming computer is less than a year.
- The art of building a gaming computer
- Building a gaming computer is much harder than it may seem. Building a gaming computer consists of choosing the right hardware, the right combination of sailing and performance, and applying expert building skill. Most people think it is easy to go online, buy some parts and put them together. But a professional system builder mills there is much more to it than just that.
Choosing parts that are not only high-performance but are compatible together is a very tricky task. With hardware specifications and component conflicts changing daily it is hard to match hardware that is perfectly compatible with one another. A knowledgeable system builder will do these of research to make sure that each part is perfectly compatible with each other. Confirming that each part is compatible with each other requires extensive research, benchmarking software, and other users’ feedback. But most importantly a professional system builder will rely on parts long they can trust.
Most importantly a system builder will add a unique touch to the system. Some may call it artistic others may call it skillfully crafted. Most custom system builders employ tactics and use devices that allow them to make sure systems are built to the highest quality standard. Some companies will individually sleeve cables, use and develop custom mounting brackets, and artistically hide cables. When a system has been skillfully crafted it should look in place. Nothing should be out of place or crude looking.
In all any custom computer should be built by a professional. Years of experience, tools, knowledge, craftsmanship or in valuable. Quality of the custom-built system is worth the money, it is simply priceless. If you were in the market for custom computer consider this a guide on what to look for. If the company you’re looking at doesn’t offer any type of custom or unique building technique you may as well build it your self.

- Hardware For Custom Gaming Computers ? Guide By Centaurus Computers
- Author: Alex Raven
If you want to purchase a new custom gaming computer you will have a lot of options to choose from, almost every custom PC website offers multiple upgrades but little or no explanation. In this first part of the Custom Gaming PC buying guide you will learn about motherboards, processors, CPU cooling and memory. Next part will give an insight on videocards, cases, cooling, power supplies and more.
When you pick computer with a cheaper processor it will most likely come with low budget motherboard, expensive processors are paired with advanced motherboards. It is done for the whole purpose of the balance between CPU and MB – you don’t need SLI or CrossFire with cheap AMD CPU so why spending your money on it? All motherboards differ by the CPU socket type they support, memory configuration and extra features like number of USB ports, integrated GPU (video), SLI or CrossFire support.
AMD 740G- basic board usually MicroATX with standard limited number of features – Phenom II support, 4-8 USB ports, single PCI-e, 100Mbps Ethernet, 2-4 memory slots (4-8Gb RAM), basic sound system with 5ch support. Good for basic computer, onboard video (ATI Radeon 2100) is low level and usually deactivated for discrete videocard.
AMD 760G – practically same as 740G but with better CPU support, Gigabyte Ethernet, 6-8 USB ports, Integrated video – ATI HD 3000, may have HDMI port, 8ch sound system.
AMD 770- most popular board due to the low price and any features possible included. No onboard video but CrossFIre support available, all AMD CPU supported, 4 memory slots – up to 16Gb RAM, 8-12 USB ports along with FireWire. HD sound with Optical and/or Coax SPDIF. Full size board with DDR3 support.
AMD 785G – latest in integrated GPU boards, ATI Radeon 4200 chipset onboard, all possible features included – eSATA, up to 16Gb RAM, CrossFire available, 6-8 USB ports, DDR3 support, HD sound SPDIF and HDMI output.
AMD 790X – almost same as AMD 770 but with DDR3 and CrossFire as standard features, plus USB 3.0 and SATA-III available. Most advanced motherboard with most features and best speed in gaming and heavy load applications.
Intel G41- very basic board usually MicroATX with limited number of features – Core 2 Duo/Quad support, 4-8 USB ports, single PCI-e, 100Mbps Ethernet, 2 memory slots (4-8Gb RAM), basic sound system with 5ch support. Good for basic computer, integrated Intel video GPU is useless and usually deactivated for discrete videocard.
Intel P43/45 – very good designed board with many modern features, up to 16Gb RAM with DDR3 possible, single PCI-e, full LGA775 CPU support, 6-10 USB, Gigabyte Ethernet, fast northbridge and effective overclocking.
Intel H55- great board for LGA1156 processors with lots of features available. Onboard video through Intel Core i3/i5 CPU with HDCP support, Intel i3/i5 CPUs supported, 4 memory slots – up to 16Gb RAM, 8-12 USB ports along with FireWire. HD sound with Optical and/or Coax SPDIF, DDR3 and HDMI onboard.
Intel P55 – it is an analog of H55 without video ports but full i5/i7 LGA1156 support, CrossFIre available, fullsize board, DDR3, eSATA, optical SPDIF.
Intel X58 – most advanced Intel board with all possible features as well as SLI and CrossFire support, 3 channel DDR3 memory, lots of SATA and USB ports, LGA1366 Intel i7 CPU support with future additions to LGA1366 line projected – very good investment in the future of technology.
Intel® Core? i7processors deliver an incredible breakthrough in PC performance. They are the best desktop processors on the planet. You’ll multitask applications faster and unleash incredible digital media creation. And you’ll experience maximum performance for everything you do, thanks to the combination of Intel® Turbo Boost technology² and Intel® Hyper-Threading technology (Intel® HT technology), which maximizes performance to match your workload. Works with X58 boards with all features possible SLI/CrossFire and triple channel RAM.
Core i5 Quad Core can match i7 performance with similar clock speeds and basically same feature set, but will be a cheaper option because they employ P55 motherboards instead of expensive P55. You loose 3 channel RAM for regular dual channel, limited CrossFire (16x + 4x PCI-e vs X58 dual 16x speed), and almost non existent SLI support. Otherwise same features so in most cases it will be on par with i7/X58 combo, but will loose in heavy multithreaded applications with lots of RAM usage and in heavy gaming with multiple videocards used. Still a very good option considering a few hundred dollars saved and less heat from the CPU which is great for overclocks.
Core i3 and i5 Dual Core with Video Core integrated – require H55 motherboards which are not expensive and have nice features and options but mostly no CrossFire or SLI support and only dual channel RAM. Processor itself is much faster than previous generation dual cores but looses greatly to most quad cores in multithreaded applications and gaming. With it’s low price they are great for media centers (with Intel integrated GPU core and HDCP support) and budget gaming machines. Also i3 and i5 have very low heat generated and can be overclocked at extreme levels with proper cooling – they don’t look so bad at all then.
AMD AM3 processors used in our computers is highly effective and cost efficient. You can choose from the variety of dual, triple and quad core processors for any budget level and you can be sure that you will get adequate performance. AMD has got much better with AM3 CPUs when it comes to features support and heat generation, as well as standard instructions and optimization. High end AMD Quad Core processors can be as effective or even better than i3 and i5 processors for a smaller price. Plus you always have a choice of much cheaper motherboards that bring the total price down significantly. DDR3 memory standard is highly developed on AM3 boards, CrossFire is a standard feature on 790X and many 770 motherboards, although all of them are lacking SLI support but that is offset by great videocards ATI has recently released. And since ATI is owned by AMD you can be sure of the great level of integration achieved through so called platforms like Spider or Fusion. It is a really great combination of price and performance.
CPU Cooler: With some amount of luck and strong determination it is possible to overclock all of the processors to some extent. Most of the time you can overclock CPU at about 10-30% rate (Centaurus Computers gives guaranteed overclock on every PC). That also depends heavily on what CPU Cooler have you selected: with stock one do not expect miracles, but with any upgraded cooler you will see major increase in MHz. Better coolers can better dissipate heat generated from increased load after overclock. Basically, if you want a better processor, you can upgrade it, or you can select better cooler and we will overclock your CPU to the higher level PLUS you will see lower temperatures and hear less noise.
EXAMPLE: Intel i7 920 with Xigmatek Dark Knight works on 3.6Ghz easily vs stock 2.66Ghz – load temperature under 60C.
And most important – temperature levels. Stock cooler will do the job but it will be pretty hot and can be noisy. Aftermarket coolers can drop temperatures down significantly and are generally almost silent. Heat is a processor’s enemy because it shortens it’s lifespan and greatly influences reliability levels.
What about water cooling? Are you ready to check your system for leaks every month? Do think you can drain and fill it up again and clean every year? Most people would say no, but then there are closed circuit water coolers like Corsair Hydro that make things easier for everybody. Basically you don’t have to refill it at any point and since it is closed circuit it should have no leaks unless it’s damaged. And Corsair Hydro does really good job in cooling – usually within or above temperature levels achieved by most expensive air coolers. That comes at a price though, so we would not recommend it to everyone, but it is available as and option.
RAM Amount depends on what are you planning to do with your computer. Most popular memory today is DDR3, today it has perfect combination of price and performance. Most popular size – 4Gb (or 4096Mb). Basically Windows XP uses about 256Mb for itself, while Windows 7 can take about 1Gb and even more. So you can play with 2Gb memory on Windows XP but you will need at least 4Gb for Windows 7 to feel really comfortable with gaming.
DDR – Double Data Rate , then number 2 or 3 stands for generation. DDR2 800 means that memory works at 800MHz and it’s second gen, that is double 400MHz (DDR2= 400×2). When you select DDR3-1600 that means that memory works at 1600Mhz and it’s 3rd gen, also it helps a lot while over clocking, since this memory can take more load. This is a great upgrade for those who need more speed.
DDR3 memory with higher frequency will give you an advantage in games and some applications, but only if you have a good processor and video card. Just keep in mind that every computer should be well balanced. For a computer with ATI 5770 and 4Gb RAM it is better to make an upgrade to ATI 5850 than getting 8Gb RAM upgrade – that is if you plan to run games on it. But a general rule of thumb says that more RAM is better, and though 4Gb is enough for most users 6Gb like with i7 and X58 boards standard becomes more and more popular – it works in triple channel and greatly increases data bandwidth.
32bit limitation – with Windows 32bit editions you will see a limitation on your memory size if you have 3Gb or more. For example, if you install 4Gb memory on 32bit machine you will probably see only 3Gb or up to 3.5Gb. Windows 64bit does not have that limitation. BUT Windows 64bit can give you some troubles with old drivers and applications that are not optimized for 64bit processing. Our advice is to choose Windows 64bit if you have all new hardware and do not plan to add anything that is not compatible with it, or Windows 32bit if you have old peripherals to add or old software that needs only 32bit Windows.
We will continue this hardware guide in the next edition ? you will learn about modern videocards, power supply requirements, hard drives and DVDs, cases and cooling! Centaurus Computers www.CentaurusPC.com

- Cheap Gaming Computer
- Author: sehar
Most of us or our siblings are obsessed with games and we face problems we use or share our un-customized PC with them which is not design for games with heavy formats. This creates several problems as not only our PC starts working slowly because of the load of hard core games but it is also difficult for gamers to play with such a PC because it slows down the pace of the game also. For them a Gaming computer is best option which is customized and upgraded for gaming.
A Gaming computer is just like a personal computer which is properly customized and upgraded that increases its capability of playing hard core games. Its efficiency and performance is increased by addition performance oriented video card and larger RAM. It is built to achieve maximum performance for serious and enthusiast game play. Thus a Gaming computer is actually the computer to play hard core games with. Therefore if you have a gamer in your family or are yourself a gamer do yourself a favor and satisfy your gaming needs with an exclusively customized and reasonably priced Gaming computer from a wide range of affordable computers the one that fulfills your gaming needs and interests in the best possible way with the help of competitively priced Gaming Computers.
Most of the users build their Gaming computers themselves but it is a decision that I can not favor or suggest to somebody because home-building one’s computer is accompanied with several drawbacks that a custom made or pre-assembled computer is virtually free of. The most important thing to be taken care of is that the case of your PC must be able to provide cooling for the high-end components plus extra space to give room for expansion and customization. But when builds a computer at home he can do nothing about these aspects and can only depend on being lucky to have a C with large case. Also one has to deal with individual component manufactures, face the inconsistencies of after purchase support and be the sole responsible for the problems that raise their heads later on. Hence it is better to buy an economically priced Gaming computer at home from the large online store of Electro Computer Warehouse then doing experiments on the only computer at home.
